By freeing up the joints in the spine that aren’t functioning properly (subluxation), Chiropractic care allows the nervous system to communicate and work efficiently and effectively and therefore you do too! Chiropractic is one of the fastest growing, largest and drugless healing professions in the world. Contact us for the best chiropractic bulk billed, gold coast

Pregnancy Chiropractic
One of the primal beliefs of Chiropractic care is: “Healthy spine = healthy nervous system = healthy body working at its full potential”. Therefore, caring for the spine grows in importance during pregnancy, as the mother’s body is going through various structural changes particularly to the pelvis and spine.
Chiropractic care may help the mother reducing back and pelvis pain, providing more restful sleep, helping with mobility and flexibility. Come visit us at Burleigh Heads Chiropractic, within Empowering Wellness.

Chiropractic Hip Adjustments
Our hips play a fundamental roll in most of our movements but we often underestimate them.
They provide numerous functions and for this very reason, they can cause tremendous pain when out of alignment.
Hips keep us upright, they bear our weight, allow us to walk, kick, run, jump, sit, and dance if you like it! Our hips are involved in nearly everything we do, so when they hurt, it can be debilitating.
However many times, what we feel as hip pain, can be originated somewhere else. Some common causes of hip pain originate from:
• Inflammation
• Overuse
• Posture
• Overweight
• Osteoarthritis
• Inflammatory bowel disease
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Injuries
• Trauma
Depending on the source of your hip pain, regular chiropractic adjustments can help relieve the symptoms, reduce inflammation and re-encourage mobility.
In cases of osteoarthritis, which is one of the most common causes of hip pain, while a cure has not yet been found, regular chiropractic care may slow down the progression of the disease while minimizing pain symptoms.
Lumbar spine related hip pain
If your pain originates in the hip itself and includes pain on the inner thigh or the front of the thigh or even the groin area, chances are that your ailment really is in the hip.
However, if the pain starts in the lower back and moves down the hip to the back of the thigh or even as far down as your foot, chances are that it’s not your hip causing you pain, but sciatica.
A thorough chiropractor will discover exactly where your pain originates from and what the root cause is. The good news is that regardless of whether you are suffering from true hip pain or sciatica, your chiropractor can successfully treat both.
Lumbar Spine Adjustments
The lower back or Lumbar spine can often cause people of all ages a bit of grief… Everyday activities, work, lifting weight or even just a funny movement can cause the lower back to come out of alignment causing pain, discomfort or even pins and needles down the legs. Our Chiros at Empowering Wellness Burleigh Heads, work with Spinal manipulation. This type of manual manipulation is a high-velocity, short lever arm thrust that is applied to abnormal vertebra with the goal of improving functionality, reducing nerve irritability and restoring the range of motion in the back. This is what we call a Chiropractic adjustment.
However, our Chiropractors also work with Mobilization or low velocity manipulation, movement and stretching of the muscles and joints, with the goal of increasing the range of motion within those areas. Research recommends chiropractic manipulation to be included in the treatment plan early in the care of lower back pain. So it is important to listen to the body when it whispers: if you are feeling discomfort, reduced range of movement or pain on the lower back, please call us on 07 555 9833.
Cervical Spine Adjustments
If you suffer from recurring neck pain or headaches, a neck adjustment could resolve chronic discomfort. For those who have never tried chiropractic care, neck adjustments may sound scary, but at Empowering Wellness Gold Coast, we are extremely fortunate and proud to count with three Doctors in Chiropractic care who add together, over 100 years of experience and have provided neck adjustments to hundreds of valued patients. Neck adjustments are all-natural alternatives to surgery and pharmaceuticals, and only a chiropractor is qualified to perform them safely. They will provide all the information and reassurance you may need to feel comfortable about your treatment.
Our Chiropractors will apply localized force to specific parts of the neck, in an effort to:
- Restore proper alignment of the neck and vertebrae
- Restore range of motion
- Relieve pressure and tension
- Reduce muscle inflammation
- Eliminate tension or restriction in neck muscles.
Neck adjustments are not for every kind of person, and our Chiropractors will assess your condition thoroughly before treating. If this is not the best approach for you, we also work with trigger point therapy and a wonderful tool called the Activator, to work on the cervical spine.
While chiropractic care has risks like any other human discipline, most of these risks are mild, rare, or both. For example, some patients may experience some soreness or stiffness the day after their adjustment, as the muscles recover and readjust to the sudden movement. This would be the same kind of soreness you would experience after a good workout, and in the same way, your neck will be grateful for it!
Chiropractic care for “pins and needles”.
The medical term for “pins and needles” is “paresthesia”. A variety of influences can cause it and the most common ones can be poor circulation, arthritis, disc disease, disc bulging and nerve compression.
Sometimes paresthesia may result just from a reduced flow of blood to the extremity which can be caused simply by external pressure that constricts the blood vessels.
In some other cases, nerves could be slightly pinched, irritated, compressed or compromised by poor posture, injuries or sometimes conditions as herniated discs and diseases of the spine, such as arthritis, spinal stenosis, or spondylolisthesis creating as a result numbness and tingling, even in places on the body far from the actual injury. Neck pain through neck injury may cause feelings of numbness or tingling in the fingers, hand or arm. A lower back injury can result in tingling on the back of the leg or the toes. In this sense, the wisdom of the Body is giving us a sign –in this case, the tingling- for us to look deeper into it to find the underlying cause of it.
Chiropractic care can address this sensation by adjusting the source of the symptom. Arm and legs pain, tingling, and numbness of the fingers and toes are treated by a trained Chiropractor at Empowering Wellness Burleigh by the performance of gentle adjustments to the spine, with the aim to free up the nerve compression causing the pain.
Our experienced Chiropractors work with the nervous system. When a sensory nerve is pressed by being in a cramped or awkward position the messages are interrupted, which can cause pins and needles. Once pressure is taken off the nerve, functioning resumes.
Are Tingling and Numbness Serious?
Tingling and numbness take two different forms:
Paresthesia: a feeling of “pins and needles” on the skin, or the insensate feeling of the hand or arm having “fallen asleep.”
Dysesthesia: a less common, more persistent sensation of itching or pain that can resemble burning, electric shock, or tightening.
While unpleasant and sometimes scary, paresthesia, the “pins and needles” sensation or numbness of your arm or leg falling asleep, is rarely serious. Dysesthesia is less common and may be a symptom of more serious nerve damage or a chronic inflammatory condition. Be wary of uncomfortable or painful numbness and tingling that persists and/or has no discernible cause.
Tingling and numbness around the back, neck, and shoulders are a more important message from our wise Body. If the sensation lasts significantly longer than a few minutes, consider a medical assessment.
How do our Chiropractors help with tingling and numbness?
To determine the appropriate course of treatment, the cause of the tingling and numbness must be accurately diagnosed by a doctor.
If no diagnosis has been made, the Chiropractor will begin with a thorough examination.
Our Chiropractors at Empowering Wellness Burleigh Heads are authorised to prescribe X-Rays under the Medicare scheme if deemed medically necessary. If further testing is needed to diagnose the source of the sensation, the doctor may order an MRI or CT scan.
Once the underlying condition is diagnosed, our chiropractors can design a treatment plan to eliminate irritation, correct misalignments causing pressure, and restore proper nerve function, providing tangible relief of the symptoms but most importantly to provide the correct alignment to the spine and desired health of the nervous system as a consequence. Finally, chiropractic treatment improves circulation and relieves pressure on the neural pathways, a necessary step to restore normal neural signalling between the body and the brain.
In combination, our team of wonderful Remedial Massage therapists can provide Deep-tissue massage to help release tensions and eliminate toxins that make the sensations worse.

What is the meaning of Chiropractic?
Chiropractic can be defined in various ways. According to the World Federation of Chiropractic, the meaning of chiropractic medicine is:
A health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.
The Association of Chiropractic Colleges describes it like this:
Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. In addition, doctors of chiropractic recognize the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interest of the patient.
